Colorado Barber License

To get a Colorado Barber License, you have to do some requirements. As with any other permit like the Colorado Accountant or Business License, a hair-stylist one also has requirements. Step 1: Completing the program

The first thing to do is complete a former hairdresser college training. The program must have at least 50 credits. Here are the minimum credit hours to gain.

• Shaving : 3 credit hours
• Hairstyling: 9
• Hair and Scalp Treatment: 2
• Haircutting: 9
• Hair coloring: 8
• Disinfection, cleaning, and safe work practices: 6
• Laws, rules, and regulations: 1
• Ethics, interpersonal skills, salesmanship, and management: 1
• Facial treatments and massage: 3

Step 2: Application

When you finish the training, you must apply for it. You must fill either the Licensure by Examination Application or the Licensure by Examination Online in the Office of Cosmetology Licensure.

You have to send the application and $28 fee to the Barber Cosmetology Program. In case of any question, write to [email protected]. You receive your answer to it within 48 hours.

Step 3: The examination process

You will receive a confirmation notice. That may explain all the instructions.

You have to schedule your test through the PSI.

You have 145 minutes to take the practical exam and 120 minutes for the written one. And you have to pay $71 for the first one and $55 for the second exam.

You will get a notification from the office when you have successfully passed all the exams.

The renewal process

You can check your expiration date on your online account. First, you have to know that all the renewals open about six weeks before the expiration. Here is the expiration date.

• Firstly, all cosmetologist permits expire every year on April 30.
• Secondly, all hairstylist and salon registrations expire in odd-numbered years on November 30.
• Lastly, all hairstylist, nail, and esthetician technicians expire in even-numbered years on March 31.
